The mode of action of quinolones is believed to be the inhibition of DNA gyrase, an essential bacterial enzyme that maintains superhelical twists of DNA. As a result of its broad spectrum effectiveness, Enrofloxacin produces a comprehensive and extensive control against a wide range of infectious diseases of respiratory, digestive and urogenital systems. Its activity covers the whole Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including: E.coli, Salmonella, Staphylococci, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Streptococcus etc.. It is also effective against many diseases caused by Mycoplasma and Chlamydia. Dosage Therapy and prophylaxis via drinking water: Poultry: up to 3 weeks 50 ppm for 3 days more than 3 weeks 10 mg/kg b. wt.. Other details Contraindications and warning: No special precuations are needed for the protection of poultry. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place and protect from light at a temperature 40°C. Avitryl is indicated mainly for prevention and treatment of salmonellosis, colibacillosis CCRD and CRD-infections in poultry.
In case of pasteurella and salmonella treatment should be extended for 5 days.
There are no contra-indications Enrofloxacin is generally nontoxic.
