What is Flumequine, Flumequine Rosoxacin Pharmacovigilance group is a first-generation quinolone antibiotic and a synthetic fluoroquinolone. It is used to treat bacterial infections. It is a fluoroquinolone antibacterial that has been removed from clinical use and is no longer being promoted.



White powder, odorless, tasteless, insoluble in water, and soluble in organic solvents.


Pharmaceutical residues

The use of flumecoin in food animals has caused great controversy. Significant and harmful deposits of quinolones were found in animals that were treated with quinolones and then slaughtered and sold as food products.


There was significant concern about the amount of residual flumecoin that was found in food animals such as fish, poultry, and livestock.


Mechanism of Action

It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits nucleic acidosis or bacterial nucleic acid.


This mechanism can even affect the homozygosity of mammalian cells. In particular, some congeners from this pharmacological family (for example those containing C-8 fluorine), exhibit high efficacy not only against bacterial but also against eukaryotes, which are toxicants to the cells of implanted mammals and in vivo tumor models.


Medical use

Treatment of diseases and infections of the urinary system (it is also used for this purpose in veterinary medicine).



Absorption: absorbs well.

Elimination age: 168 after treatment, except until there are studies that have demonstrated the presence of unknown additional precipitants, which are metabolites. Studies are considered the primary metabolite 24 hours after the last dose and at all subsequent times.

Excretion: excreted in urine and feces.


Side effects

Flemecoin has been associated with severe ocular toxicity, which precludes its use in sickness in humans. It has many toxic effects that prevented its use in humans, it is:

  • Induces kidney stone formation.
  • Anaphylactic shock.
  • Hypersensitivity: shock, urticaria, Quincke's edema (2 hours after the first dose).
  • Impact on the CNS.
  • Cutaneous: erythema (dermatitis), itching, urticaria, rash.
  • Digestive and nervous disorders.
